Nevertheless, as any rare earth magnet, they are liable to corrosion and a subsequent decreasing in their performance. To this end, AIM Magnet employs a technique named passivation. Passivation is the surface treatment method used in developing an outer shielding material layer on the NdFeB magnet surface. This acts like a shield protecting the magnet against environmental factors that cause corrosion. Cleaning of NdFeB magnet is where the process of passivating starts by eliminating any remaining particles on it. The next step involves applying passivation which usually oxidizes with the magnet’s surface to develop a protective layer. The thickness of this layer normally stands at few micrometers but it is very efficient in preventing corrosion.
